HOW TO GET TO VARENNA
(by public transportation)

    Option 1:

  • Train (Malpensa Express) to Milano Cadorna F.N. (40 minutes) (see schedule)
  • Subway to Centrale F.S. (Linea 2 "green line") - 5 stops
  • Train from Milano Centrale F.S. to Varenna (1 hour)

    • Option 2:

  • Bus (Malpensa Shuttle) to Milano Centrale F.S. (50 minutes+epsilon (rush hours)) (see schedule)
  • Train from Milano Centrale F.S. to Varenna (1 hour)

  • Bus S.P.T. (their web site in Italian) to Menaggio (possibly commuting in Como)

  • Malpensa-Como-Menaggio
  • Como-Menaggio-Colico
  • Boat from Menaggio to Varenna (15 minutes) or from Como to Varenna
    (There are many boats during the day; the updated schedule is available (in Italian) here (look for ``Orari dal 31/5/2003 al 5/10/2003'' under ``Centro Lago'' from Menaggio to Varenna (and Bellagio) and vice versa and under ``Como-Colico'' for service from/to Como)
