    Belgirate is a small town on the Lake Maggiore, 70 Km. north of Milano.

    Both Hotels are Four Star Hotels, affiliated with Best Western. Hotel Villa Carlotta ( picture), hosting the conference, is a XIX century villa within a secular park, on the lakefront.

    Detailed bus and train schedules effective during the Conference will be posted as soon as they will be published (early June). Information is provided based upon the current schedules (minor changes are expected).

    People arriving in
  • Milano Linate (LIN) Airport : buses operated by STAM connect, very frequently, Linate Airport to Milano Centrale F.S. (15 minutes) where trains leave to Stresa. Direct trains to Belgirate are leaving from Milano Porta Garibaldi F.S., which can be reached by subway (Line 2 to Famagosta, two stops) from Centrale F.S.
  • Milano Malpensa (MPX) Airport : buses operated by Air Pullman connect Malpensa Airport to Gallarate F.S. (Railways Station). Currently they are leaving at 8.00, 9.00, 9.55, 10.45, 11.33, 12.26, 12.56, 13.30, 14.33, 15.30, 16.30, 17.41, 18.55. Travel time is 15-25 minutes (depending on the bus route).

    Trains are leaving Gallarate to Belgirate at 9.57, 13.08, 17.26, 18.15, 19.11 (travel time 45 minutes). Other trains are connecting Gallarate to Stresa. at 10.56, 12.42, 14.02, 15.54, 16.56, 17.55 (travel time 30 minutes; some IC/EC trains require an extra payment).

    Buses operated by Malpensa Shuttle connect Malpensa Airport to Milano Centrale F.S. in one hour (departure every 30 minutes on the hour and shalf hour).
  • Milano Centrale F.S: trains are currently leaving at 9.00, 10.25, 12.15, 13.25, 15.25, 16.25, 17.25, 18.35, 19.05 and they take approx. 1 hour to reach Stresa. Some trains require an extra payment (IC/EC/CIS).
  • Milano Porta Garibaldi F.S: trains are currently leaving at 9.20, 12.38, 16.50, 17.32, 18.19, 20.05 and they take 75-80 minutes to reach Belgirate.
  • Stresa: taxi (Lit. 25.000-30.000), boats and buses are available to reach Belgirate in 5-10 minutes.
  • Accommodation

    Full board from the evening of June, 16th, to the afternoon of June, 19th, will cost, per person:

    Hotel Villa Carlotta: Lit. 525.000 (single room), Lit. 450.000 (double room).

    Hotel Milano : Lit. 480.000 (single room), Lit. 405.000 (double room).

    Costs for shorter stays will be provided upon request.

    A deposit of Lit. 150.000 (per person) must accompany the hotel reservation form, to be sent to Hotel Villa Carlotta by April, 10th, 1997.

    There is no registration fee.

    Participants are requested to fill
    the hotel reservation form and send it to the Hotel by April, 10th, 1997.
    Participiants are kindly asked to send the the registration form to workshop@iami.mi.cnr.it (before April, 30th, 1997, if submitting an abstract).

  • The hotel reservation form must reach Hotel Villa Carlotta by April, 10th, enclosing the cheque or copy of the receipt of the Bank transfer (or vaglia) or the credit card number (with expiration date). Fax can be used to send the hotel reservation form, provided that either the credit card data or a copy of the receipt of the Bank transfer (or vaglia) is enclosed. Reservations not accompanied by the payment of the deposit will not be accepted.

    The payment must be without any charges for the beneficiary. It is regretted that refunds cannot be made for later cancellation. If the room is not occupied on the first day of reservation, accomodation will not be guaranteed and the deposit will be forfeited.
